here is a link from a piano teacher whose material I have used and I respect her teaching and ideas immensely. She has taken the time to review several piano/music teaching apps for students. You will find apps ranging from rhythm reading to note reading to everything in between. These apps are great reinforcements for students between lessons and they are fun games to play. You can feel good about allowing your children to have a little screen time.We can take a few minutes to review the best one for your child- I have made suggestions and will continue to do so- for now, continue to explore and enjoy! http://colorinmypiano.com/music-apps/

As I begin my third year of teaching in Portland, I’m ever so grateful for a blossoming studio of fine little and big musicians. Three years ago I was searching to find students, not knowing if anyone would knock on my door. I kept busy giving a full length recital and accompanying students throughout the area. I’m amazed at how connections develop, the non linear patterns of developing a business.People meet each other in all kinds of circumstances. As I threw myself out there over the three years, playing ukelele in farmer’s markets, giving free classes at toy stores and cafes,I continued to believe in what I do and now couldn’t be happier to be in full swing doing what I love. I look forward to many new adventures as I begin to expand my studio to younger students, developing an early childhood pre-school piano program. I’m also going to pursue my national certification for teaching. Lots more to come!
At Mindful Musicians Studio we are getting ready for our upcoming winter recital at Community Music Center on February 22nd,2015 at 5:00pm. We look forward to performing!
February 6-8 and 13-15th will be the Baroque and Contemporary Festival sponsored Oregon Music Teachers Association. All events will take place at Portland Piano Company. This year, I will be chairing the festival and am excited to have two students performing in the festival.
Last night I had a wonderful evening of playing for 3 hours non-stop with the fabulous musicians, Lucia Conrad ( violin) and Max Fuller (cello). We played through Smetan’s 1st trio and Beethoven, 0p. 97 trio. I’m reminded of how important it is to be making music with others- How much I can grow from playing and how much joy I receive from the energy of communicating with others!
Latest Simply Music Rhapsody Class at Eco Baby Gear- So much fun!
I had so much fun yesterday improvising to my new friend, Dalcroze Joe’s pendulum movements. Thanks also to my dear friend Mattie (or Maxent, our Dalcroze names) for her constant source of inspiration and creative energy! She recorded this improvisation.
